Phase 1 of the Greening of Antoni van Leeuwenhoek is a Reality, Green is More Than Beautiful! 

On Friday, July 5th, the Ronald Moerings Foundation and Royal Lemkes completed the first phase of the greening project in the central hall and outdoor gardens of the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek (AvL), Amsterdam’s premier cancer hospital and research institute.

This project promises to not only create a beautiful oasis but also bring hope and confidence to those who need it most.

A stunning 3.5 x 2.5-meter moss artwork was unveiled, featuring the contours of Antoni van Leeuwenhoek. In addition, several seating areas and plant dividers were greened.

Creating a Green Oasis in the Central Hall 

The central hall will continue to be further greened in the coming months, slowly but surely transforming into a green oasis where patients, their families, as well as the many employees and researchers, can find peace and relaxation.

The power of plants in healthcare environments is supported by dozens of scientific studies: Green and Care Research.

Collaboration for Greening 

The greening was made possible through contributions from Ammerlaan The Green Innovator, VDE Plant, Leaf, Elho, Nieuwkoop Europe, Van der Salm, and the Van der Knaap Group. The moss artwork was made possible by Moswens and Royal Lemkes.

A Lecture on the Power of Plants 

During the unveiling, Inggé Syaranamual from Studio Syara gave a lecture. Her office specializes in environmental psychology combined with interior design. Inggé emphasized the power of plants in healthcare environments, supported by dozens of scientific studies. Plants provide benefits related to patient recovery and the well-being of visitors.

Looking Forward to Further Green Phases 

Following this, Ekko Vermeulen presented the next greening phases and, as chairman of the Ronald Moerings Foundation, thanked all the sponsors who helped make Phase 1 possible.
