When I grow up, I want to be a plant grower

Every now and then, there are those encounters at the company that you won’t forget easily, because of the people, the reason, or the outcome. The visit of 11-year-old Anna de Groot hit all three. Together with a film crew from the popular YouTube channel Later als ik Groot ben, she spent a day with us. We certainly won’t forget it, especially since the episode is now online.

What a fun day it turned out to be! Anna came because – when she grows up – she wants to become a plant grower. And it turned out not to be just a wild idea. Besides already knowing a lot about plants, she was full of questions.

Curious, you could definitely call her that. She wanted to know everything: how the plants grow in the greenhouses and what all is involved, innovations, light, heat, water, and biological pest control. She was surprised by the drones flying around in our greenhouses. And she was visibly happy when she worked on creating Hydroponic concepts, happily handling plants and beautiful vases.

Plants and Nature

Together with my colleague Bjorn Hoogeveen, I showed Anna and presenter, singer, and GTST actor Rein van Duivenboden around our company. We shared our own passion, how fun it is to work with plants and nature, and how everyone feels better in a green environment. Plants around you bring calm, whether at home, at school, or at work.

YouTube Channel: Later als ik Groot ben

Later als ik Groot ben is a popular YouTube channel for kids between the ages of 9 and 14. In each episode, one person gets the chance to try out their dream job for a day. The more than 100 jobs featured on the channel have been watched over 10 million times! Now, the plant grower role has been added to the series. In collaboration with Bloemenbureau Holland, we’ve been able to give a fun and educational insight into the ornamental horticulture sector.
